Overview

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a major provider of integrated hospital and community services for people living in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area. This includes Thame (Oxfordshire), Tring (Hertfordshire) and Leighton Buzzard (Bedfordshire). We provide care to over half a million patients every year. We have over 6,000 highly trained clinical staff, including doctors, nurses, midwives, health visitors, therapists, and healthcare scientists.

Amersham Hospital is one of several Community Hospitals within the Trust. We have three inpatient areas: Chartridge Ward, Waterside Unit, and Buckinghamshire Neuro Rehabilitation Unit. We are looking to appoint new Healthcare Assistants to join our team on Chartridge Ward.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team on Chartridge Ward, including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, doctors, pharmacists, social workers and discharge coordinators.
  • Provide nursing support and care to patients who are medically optimised for discharge, often following a period in acute care.
  • Assist with arranging appropriate care in the community, such as Packages of Care in the patient’s home or placement in a Nursing or Residential Home.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and inter-personal skills; work effectively both within a team and independently.
  • Undergo training and clinical supervision opportunities as a successful candidate.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Good standard of English and numeracy skills.
  • Passion for looking after older people.
  • Enthusiastic and caring attitude with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to offer a high level of nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Numeracy and literacy competency test during shortlisting; successful candidates will be interviewed.
