Health & Safety Manager - London and Cambridgeshire - up to £65k + Benefits

Are you a military veteran with a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to looking after your team? Your skills could be the perfect fit for my client’s Health & Safety Manager role within the fit-out sector.

They are looking for someone with proven leadership and risk management experience who can champion safety across multiple high-profile construction projects. You’ll be the trusted advisor ensuring standards are not only met but exceeded — keeping people safe and projects moving.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading site inspections and audits, making sure safety always comes first.
  • Reviewing and improving risk assessments and method statements.
  • Investigating incidents and implementing corrective measures.
  • Coaching project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to build a strong safety culture.
  • Supporting training delivery, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Helping maintain industry-leading accreditations (ISO45001, RoSPA, etc.).

What they are looking for:

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety (or equivalent). Essential
  • Tech IOSH membership (or working towards). Essential
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • First Aid at Work certificate.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Previous construction or engineering leadership experience — military background highly valued.

If you’ve recently transitioned from the Forces and have a strong safety/leadership record, they are keen to hear from you, they can support you with civilian sector experience.

What’s in It for You, as well as an excellent starting salary of between £55 – 65k depending on experience and commercial knowledge:

  • Structured career development with training and CPD support.
  • Exposure to high-profile, complex interior fit-out projects.
  • Supportive, team-focused working environment.
  • Private medical cover (including GP scheme), insurance, and pension.
  • Travel expenses & mileage reimbursement.
  • Employee assistance programme and wellbeing perks.
  • Discounts on gyms, shopping, and more.
  • And finally, 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays as well as a Christmas Shut down which is on top of your leave entitlement.

Why are they seeking veterans:

  • Leadership: You’ll be trusted to influence teams and make safety-first decisions.
  • Risk Management: Translating your operational risk experience into construction safety.
  • Communication: Your ability to brief, instruct, and guide teams is invaluable.
  • Adaptability: Every site is different — just like every posting.

This would be an ideal role for someone who has either construction knowledge in the military i.e. Royal Engineer SNCO or who has gained such experience since leaving the forces.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. We are committed to equality and diversity in all our activities, and we strive to establish a diverse and inclusive community.
