Overview

Interim Health Economist

Based in London, hybrid working - 2 days on site TBC

Length: 12 months

IR35 status: Inside

Rate: £500 per day via an umbrella company

Role

We are seeking a skilled Economist to evaluate prevention and public health interventions through robust cost–benefit analysis (CBA). The role will focus on quantifying the economic and social impact of services for local .

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead economic evaluations, including cost–benefit and cost-effectiveness analyses of public health interventions
  • Measure and monetise health and social outcomes using recognised economic evaluation methods
  • Collect, clean, and analyse datasets on health, demographics, social outcomes, and service use
  • Design logic models and impact pathways to map causal links between interventions and outcomes
  • Collaborate with council colleagues to ensure integrated, cross-disciplinary approaches
  • Prepare clear reports and presentations for both internal and external audiences
  • Engage stakeholders effectively by translating complex economic findings into practical, evidence-based insights
Skills, experience and knowledge required

Essential

  • Postgraduate degree in Economics, Heath economics, Public Policy, or related field
  • Experience in conducting cost-benefit analyses, preferably in the health and social policy domain
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of public health metrics, e.g. QALY
  • Experience working within or alongside local or government, NHS, Public health bodies
  • Understanding equity weighing and methods to assess social impact
