What will you be doing?

As our Health & Safety Officer, you’ll be the go-to expert for all things safety across our Manchester depots. Working closely with the Engineering Director and Health & Safety Manager, you will:

  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure Group H&S policies are consistently applied across depots
  • Carry out safety audits and follow up on actions, legislation updates, and policy changes
  • Support the Manchester business to maintain their ISO 45001 accreditation
  • Collaborate with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) on safety improvement programmes
  • Attend forums and committees to share knowledge and best practices with other operators
  • Deliver in-house safety training and support the delivery of our 5-Year Safety Plan
  • Investigate incidents and develop Safety Alerts to improve awareness and prevent reoccurrence
  • Monitor depot KPIs and identify opportunities for safety improvement
  • Be a visible presence across our operations, engaging with local teams to champion safe working practices

What do you need to apply?

We’re looking for someone who brings experience, passion and a proactive mindset to the role. You’ll need:

  • A NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
  • Strong knowledge of UK safety legislation and auditing practices
  • Experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment (ideally transport or similar)
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between depots
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong planning, problem-solving and organisational abilities
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)

It’s a bonus if you also have:

  • Experience working on multiple projects or across multiple sites
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and/or sustainability frameworks
  • A calm, methodical and approachable personality
