Job summary

A major UK construction company in Stirling is looking for a qualified Health and Safety Advisor to inspire operational teams across projects in southern Scotland. Health and Safety Advisor
£40,000 - £45,000 DOE + Car

We have an opportunity for a qualified Health & Safety Advisor to join our SSE Team in Stirling, to work across sites and projects across southern Scotland. We need your help to inspire and help our busy operational teams execute their work consistently, using best in class health and safety practices. We'll support and encourage your inquisitive nature as you seek to understand the operational challenges your colleagues face on site. We'll encourage you to create communications strategies which resonate and inspire our team.

Here are just some of the activities you'll be getting involved with:

  • Advising on and setting Operational team safety objectives
  • Supporting and undertaking investigations into accidents and incidents
  • Contributing to new tenders and bids
  • Assessing external environments for safe working
  • Identifying any gaps in the H&S management system; recommending improvements
  • Developing and implementing new initiatives or sharing best practice with colleagues
  • Advising on and communicating new working practices in line with any new legislative requirements or best practice
  • Carrying out ABC tours (Attitude, Behaviours and Culture)
  • Actively encouraging Safety Observations and Hazard Reporting
  • Work across multiple frameworks across Southern England and Wales.

We'd love to hear from you if you can demonstrate

  • Exceptional communications skills and originality as well as H&S certified or equivalent NVQ Level 5/6 for Occupational Health & Safety are all essential for success in this role.
  • We'll be looking for you to demonstrate an innovative approach to H&S problem solving, underpinned by a thorough understanding of current HSE legislation.
  • A NEBOSH Construction Certification or equivalent i.e., HNC in Construction as a minimum and a Tech IOSH Membership and working towards Grad or equivalent.
  • Experience of energy or utilities and evidence of carrying out inspections and audits.
  • This role will involve travel to different projects, so you'll need to hold a UK driving licence and be open to working away.
