Job summary

A leading UK renewable energy firm is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to enhance HSE standards throughout the project lifecycle. You will be involved in developing HSE policies, conducting risk assessments, and providing vital training within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in HSE roles, a solid understanding of UK health and safety legislation, and relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH. This position offers remote working with site visits as necessary.

Qualifications

As Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor you will ensure the highest standards of HSE throughout the project pipeline, from the stages of development to construction and subsequent energisation.

What you will be doing:
  • Developing, updating and implementing HSE policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Providing practical HSE advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, contractors and site teams.
  • Planning and setting short- and long-term HSE objectives, priorities and performance standards.
  • Auditing and reviewing HSE management system performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing effective control measures
  • Carrying out regular site inspections.
  • Working closely with project and construction management teams.
  • Overseeing correct implementation and use of collective and personal protective equipment.
  • Ensuring accurate reporting, investigation and follow-up of incidents, near-misses and unsafe acts.
  • Delivering HSE training including inductions, toolbox talks and task-specific training.
  • Developing and testing emergency plans and coordinating emergency drills.
  • Acting as the main point of contact during HSE inspections by regulatory authorities.
  • Participating in internal and external HSE meetings with contractors and suppliers.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections, incidents, training and HSE documentation
  • Producing monthly HSE KPI reports.
What you will bring:
  • Experience in NEBOSH or IOSH
  • Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and regulations.
  • Experience working with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations and delivering HSE training.
  • Full UK driving licence.
