Overview

Head of Quality Compliance FTC (6 months)

Location: Hybrid Travel to Borehamwood and Aylesbury sites as required

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: 6-month Fixed Term Contract

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours/week) open to flexible arrangements (4 days/week possible)

Salary: Equivalent to £70,000-£80,000 per annum OR £500/day (outside IR35 contractor option available)

A rapidly growing international business with a strong presence across more than 17 countries is seeking a Head of Quality Compliance to provide maternity cover for a 6-month period.

You will lead initiatives that ensure the organisation not only meets but exceeds regulatory and customer expectations in product quality and service delivery. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will work closely with the Head of Quality Assurance and senior stakeholders to align compliance efforts with business goals.

You will manage and develop a team of three direct reports (Internal Auditor, Compliance Officer, and Quality Compliance Operative), ensuring strong governance, smooth audits, and operational resilience during this critical period.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO9001, ISO22716 (Cosmetics GMP), FDA, TGA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Ensure changes to quality processes and systems are communicated, implemented, and monitored effectively.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including unannounced inspections, ensuring corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are managed to closure.
  • Oversee the Business Continuity Procedure roll-out and Crisis Management framework.
  • Manage compliance risk assessments and support operational teams in implementing mitigation plans.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, and customers on compliance matters.
  • Guide and coach the team to meet clear performance expectations and build capability.
  • Oversee SOPs, CAPA processes, complaints handling, and documentation controls.
  • Provide compliance performance reports and updates to the CFO and senior leadership.
  • Deliver training to raise awareness of compliance obligations and best practices across the business.
Candidate Profile
  • Substantial experience in Quality Compliance leadership within a regulated manufacturing environment (Cosmetics, Pharma, FMCG, or related).
  • Proven expertise in ISO9001, ISO22716 (Cosmetics GMP), and strong working knowledge of FDA / TGA regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience managing and optimising e-QMS systems.
  • Strong auditing background with experience leading regulatory inspections and notified body audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams, including performance management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence senior leadership.
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • BSc (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline, preferably Chemistry.
