Job summary

About The Role
Role Overview
  • UK&I QHSE Director in a department with +70 QHSE professionals.
  • To provide expert QHSE support, assistance and advice to the OCS UK&I Sales division regarding all QHSE related matters for new FM contract sales, bids and tenders.
  • Assist with and provide QHSE expertise for new FM contract mobilisations and acquisitions, including the first stage in mobilisation; assessing tasks, hazards, OCS commitments & responsibilities and implementing the QHSE Management Plan for the contract.
  • Lead on QHSE projects which can vary from review and update sections of the OCS UK&I QHSE Management System, through to purchase and implementation in the business of new QHSE software systems.
  • Act as a Leader and QHSE expert assisting the QHSE Director in coaching, supporting, advising and guiding the OCS UK&I QHSE team members.
  • Own the OCS UK&I Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery process and procedures managing and guiding the OCS UK&I BDCR Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Functional
  • To work collaboratively and constructively with the OCS UK&I Sales division to ensure all QHSE related matters are assessed and expert structured QHSE responses are provided for new FM contract sales, bids and tenders.
  • Use your experience of evaluating new FM contract sales, bids and tender’s Invitation To Tender documentation to ensure all QHSE related matters are identified and assessed for PPQ’s/ Bids, Quality, H&S, Compliance, BCDR, NEC3 & 4 Plans.
  • Provide a “hands‑on” approach to mobilisations for QHSE requirements of new FM contracts, setting the OCS Operational teams up for success from day one, ensuring continued support, mentoring and coaching during the mobilisation period.
  • Utilising your experience and QHSE expertise assessing tasks, hazards, OCS commitments & responsibilities to enable implementation of a suitable, robust QHSE Management Plan for new FM contract mobilisations and acquisitions, including Fire; ACMs; Confined Spaces; QHSE resources; training; CDM; Operational RAMS
  • Take the Lead on OCS QHSE projects under direction from the UK&I QHSE Director, which can vary from new QHSE procedures, assessing new or updated QHSE related legislation and implementing process to ensure adherence, development of training material, reviewing and updating sections of the OCS UK&I QHSE Management System, assist with building and implementation of new QHSE software and systems.
  • Develop and implement new policy & process with the UK&I QHSE Director as necessary.
  • Assist with significant accident and incident investigations and liaison with enforcing authorities as required.
  • Provide expertise in QHSE matters to Operational Management Teams.
  • Act as a Leader and QHSE expert assisting the QHSE Director in coaching, supporting, advising and guiding the OCS UK&I QHSE team members.
  • Ensure expert QHSE representation at Client meetings on behalf of OCS where necessary.
  • Assist in the development, formulation and delivery of annual QHSE objectives
  • Manage on a day‑to‑day basis the OCS UK&I BCDR Manager.
  • Assist the OCS UK&I BDCR Manager with implementation of suitable and sufficient Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery process and procedures at FM contract and Business Division levels.
  • Ensure a program of BDCR testing is undertaken through OCS UK&I.
  • Lead on recertification of the OCS UK&I’s ISO 22301, accreditation.

  • Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and industry initiatives to enable maintenance of CPD.
  • Avoid conflict of interests between personal interests and the interests of the OCS UK & Ireland group.
  • Exercise independent judgment, reasonable care, skill and diligence when carrying out duties.
  • Act in good faith and promote the long‑term success of each division within the OCS UK & Ireland group for the benefit of all members and wider stakeholders.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Necessary
  • Chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Leadership QHSE role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of QHSE compliance and statutory requirements placed on the business
  • Extensive practical QHSE management and delivery experience in Facilities Management and construction environments.
  • A working knowledge of environmental law is preferred.
  • Confident when dealing with the enforcing authorities
  • Hands‑on and can‑do approach.
  • Demonstrable CPD
  • Behave in an ethical and sustainable way
  • Full UK drivers license
