A public health procurement organization in Wolverhampton seeks a candidate for a strategic procurement role. You will manage Non-Medical Strategic Procurement activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks while working flexibly. Ideal applicants should be capable of leading procurement teams and addressing key commercial issues relevant to healthcare trusts. The position offers 27 days of annual leave and the option for hybrid work.
The NMBC operate under a flexible working policy and also offer partial working from home (typically 3 days per week) as part of the role.
The Trust offers 27 days annual leave on appointment, rising to 29 days after 5 years of service and 33 days after 10 years of service. In addition, there is also the potential to accrue hours towards flexi-leave in accordance with the flexible working policy.
This is a vital role within the NMBC which is responsible for the management of the Non-Medical Strategic Procurement Teams and other bespoke commercial related projects within the Black Country ICS (Integrated Care System) and Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent ICS Trusts and other customers of the NMBC ensuring compliance with Public Contract Regulations, Procurement Act 2023, UK Law and Trust Standing Financial Instructions.

The NMBC is responsible for all aspects of Procurement, Supply Chain and wider Commercial support to the aforementioned organisations covering a range of Acute, Mental Health, Community, Pathology Networks, GP Practices and Commissioning Support Units across the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, Black Country, Shropshire and South Cheshire Integrated Care System (ICSs). With almost 200 staff, 55,000 users and managing a total non-pay spend portfolio of over £1.2b per annum the NMBC is one of the largest and influential Group Procurement Organisations (GPOs) in the NHS.
This post sits in the Strategic Procurement Team and is based within the NMBC at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust sites, reporting to the Group Deputy Director of Procurement RWT & Group Clinical Procurement. The role is directly responsible for Strategic Procurement and commercial, strategic duties within UHNM.
