Montu UK is scaling fast, and we’re looking for a Head of Pharmacy Operations who thrives in high-velocity, high-accountability environments. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role at the heart of a business moving from rapid growth to market leadership.

You’ll own the engine room of a tech-enabled pharmacy: people, systems, workflows, automation, and performance. Your mandate is simple but demanding — build an operation that can scale fast, stay compliant, and deliver exceptional patient outcomes, every day.

This is not a steady-state role. You’ll be designing and scaling an operation in real time, leading teams into triple-digit headcount, solving complex operational problems, and building a digital pharmacy model that performs like a best-in-class tech platform.

What you’ll do

🚀 Operational Leadership & Scale

• Own and execute the pharmacy operations strategy to support aggressive growth targets.
• Design, optimise, and continuously improve end‑to‑end workflows, automation, and systems to maximise speed, quality, and safety.
• Scale pharmacy operations teams to 100+ FTEs within 6–9 months, without compromising standards.
• Define and own KPIs, SLAs, dashboards, and performance metrics — you run the numbers, not just the meetings.
• Relentlessly raise the bar on operational excellence and patient experience.

📈 Growth Enablement

• Act as a core growth partner to leadership, ensuring operational readiness never limits ambition.
• Identify and remove bottlenecks before they impact patients or revenue.
• Deliver high‑velocity fulfilment in a digital‑first, e‑commerce pharmacy model.
• Support rapid launches of new products, services, and care pathways.

👥 People, Performance & Culture

• Recruit, structure, and develop a high‑performing, target‑driven leadership team.
• Build strong team leads who own day‑to‑day execution, quality, and performance.
• Create a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and pace.

📦 Supply Chain & Inventory

• Balance scale, speed, and compliance for controlled drugs, including CBPMs and Schedule 2 medicines.
• Partner with commercial teams to optimise inventory, reduce wastage, and protect margins.
• Build resilient, data‑driven supply chain processes that scale with demand.

🛡️ Compliance & Risk (as an enabler)

• Own operational compliance with GPhC regulations and controlled drug legislation.
• Work closely with the Superintendent and Medical Director to embed safety into scale.
• Lead audit readiness, inspections, and risk management — proactively, not reactively.

🤝 Stakeholder Impact

• Be the operational heartbeat between leadership, regulators, suppliers, and technology partners.
• Influence big‑picture decisions on infrastructure, automation, and long‑term growth strategy.

What you bring

• Senior operations leadership experience in a fast‑growth, high‑performance environment (tech, e‑commerce, logistics, healthcare, or regulated consumer).
• Proven track record of scaling operational teams (50–100+ FTEs).
• Strong commercial mindset with hands‑on experience driving KPIs and targets.
• Systems thinker who loves streamlining processes and solving complex problems.
• Confident, decisive leader with a bias for action and comfort with ambiguity.

Bonus points for

• Experience in online pharmacy, digital health, or regulated healthcare.
• E‑commerce or fulfilment experience (Shopify or equivalent platforms).
• Exposure to CBPMs, special medicines, or controlled drug supply chains.
• Pharmacy degree (BPharm/MPharm) or clinical background.
