Location : National role with regular travel to customer sites, Cannock office and other UK Veolia sites.

What you’ll be doing

Veolia is seeking a visionary leader to spearhead our national growth strategy and champion sustainability in the waste and resource management sector.

You’ll have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of internal contacts including Invesco, Executive board members, Managing Director, Commercial Development Director, Heads of Operations, and Senior Leadership, as well as external contacts including customers, competitors, and suppliers across the national landscape.

Key responsibilities include

Lead Our National Business Development strategy for the Commercial business in the UK. We’re seeking an exceptional leader to drive our national business development strategy, combining commercial excellence with environmental purpose. This is your opportunity to shape the future of sustainable resource management while leading a talented team to success.

  • Strategic Leadership – Inspire and empower a high‑performing team of 28 professionals (7 direct reports, 21 indirect) across our national operations, creating a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Commercial Impact – Take ownership of £47m+ revenue portfolio, driving strategic volume growth (£25m+) and optimizing revenue management (£22m+) across key national partnerships.
  • Purpose‑Driven Success – Champion Veolia’s ‘Green Up’ strategy, positioning us as the partner of choice for organisations seeking to achieve their sustainability ambitions and ecological transformation goals.
  • Develop Future Leaders – Coach and mentor senior Business Development Managers, unlocking their potential to consistently exceed ambitious targets.
  • Executive Influence – Collaborate directly with our executive board and senior leadership team, shaping corporate strategy and driving organisational success.

What we’re looking for
Essential
  • Proven track record of leading teams to consistently deliver and exceed corporate targets.
  • Expert‑level business acumen, financial management, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Experience leading large, complex sales teams, preferably in the waste industry.
  • Strategic thinker who thrives on transformation and change.
  • Natural coach who understands the power of developing high‑performance teams.
  • Ability to influence at senior leadership level across matrixed environments.
Desirable
  • Subject relevant degree.
  • Knowledge of Waste Industry.
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management or equivalent work experience.
