Responsibilities
  • To implement and maintain the programmes of study and schemes of work for the department.
  • To lead by example, delivering excellent teaching and learning experiences and outcomes forour pupils in line with theschool's
  • Vision for Learning Excellence
  • To support the team of teachers in the department to deliver excellent teaching and learning experiences and outcomes for our pupils
  • To track and monitor the progress and attainment of all pupils, providing analysis of data for internal assessments and public examinations
  • To ensure the progress and attainment of all pupils within the department so that they meet and exceed their learning goals
  • To communicate with pupils, parents, guardians and colleagues to support pupil progress
  • To lead and co-deliver the programme of co-curricular opportunities and support clinics within the department.
  • To lead behaviour for learning within the department, supporting colleagues and pupils to ensure consistently high expectations
  • To plan and lead educational visits and learning opportunities beyond the classroom, including with other departments and the Junior School
  • To develop strategies for securing excellent pupil recruitment into the department in the Sixth Form.

You will be a well-qualified and inspiring teacher with outstanding subject knowledge. You will be able to teach Media Studies confidently at GCSE and have experience of delivering the Extended Certificate BTEC programme in Creative Digital Media Production.. The ability to teach A-Level Media would be an advantage. You should have experience of using a range of teaching and learning strategies and be able to offer enthusiasm for your subject and excellent pupil results at all levels., You would be joining an experienced team that has an excellent track record of supporting pupils to achieve outstanding results. In Media GCSE (Eduqas) this summer, 97% of grades were a 6 or above and pupils performed, on average, 1.5 grades higher than their baseline predictions. At A-level (Eduqas), 63% of grades were at A or above. We also deliver a popular Extended Certificate BTEC programme in Creative Digital Media Production.

In 2025, 81% of the cohort achieved a Distinction or higher and 100% achieved a Merit of higher. The Media department consists of 4 members of staff, including a dedicated technician. The Department has excellent facilities that enable our pupils to excel. It also offers pupils a range of co-curricular activities. For example, MUN TV broadcasts daily news bulletins, as well as entertainment programmesthroughout the Royal Russell MUN Conference in October half term.

Our pupils are also responsible for the live production of Royal Russell Day and the marketing videos for the School, providing them with invaluable experience.
