Salary: £107,075 - £111,522 per year

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and
ambitious individual to fulfil a strategic leadership role
within Dumfries and Galloway Council. We are ambitious
for our region, focused on supporting our communities
to thrive and prosper and ensuring that we provide
quality services and better outcomes for the citizens and
communities in Dumfries and Galloway.

As a member of the Council’s Management team, you will
work collaboratively with other Chief Officers and Elected
Members to deliver the Council’s vision and ambition
for our region. You will drive forward transformational
change and innovation, support collaborative working
within a one-Council approach, and work to support
the financial stability of the Council and address
future challenges.

Importantly, you will have responsibility for the strategic
leadership of the Economy and Environment services
including Economic Development, Planning and Building
Standards (Including the role of Chief Planning Officer
for the Authority), Strategic Housing Investment,
Environment, Housing Standards, Transition to Net Zero
and Environmental Health and Trading Standards. You
will play an integral role in providing empowerment and
support to teams to help them flourish, deliver a high
standard of customer service and continue to make a
difference to the lives of our citizens.

We are seeking a visible and forward-thinking leader with
a track record of success at a senior level within a complex
organisation. You should be educated to degree standard
or equivalent.

Essential qualities include being a first-class communicator
and a natural relationship manager, with an appreciation
and understanding of working within a political
environment. A strategic approach and vision to deliver
change, service improvement, collaborative, wholesystems
partnership working, financial planning and
people leadership skills together with a strong customer
focus is essential.
