Head of Dementia Care — Grace Care Centre, Thornbury
Location: Grace Care Centre, Thornbury
Salary: £34,000 per annum
Hours of work: 37.5 per week (Including shift work and weekend work)
Our care teams make a real difference every day and your professionalism, teamed with kindness and compassion, will be at the core of everything you do. Working collaboratively with the home management team, you will lead on and develop the provision of person-centred care for our residents living with dementia to meet their needs in sometimes complex situations and during times of distress. You will take responsibility for the operational management of the dementia households ensuring colleagues are competent and confident working across all shifts through promoting best practice, providing guidance and support. You will work closely with our residents to support them in making decisions about their care and will work alongside our Admiral Nurses, outside agencies and our resident’s family, carers and friends to plan and implement care that promotes independence and wellbeing to ensure that our residents living with dementia continue to live fulfilled and meaningful lives.
Grace Care Centre is a 70 bed Care Home located on the outskirts of the Historic town of Thornbury. The home offers compassionate and personalised 24-hour specialist dementia and residential care in a comfortable, homely setting.
You’ll have a QCF Level 3 in Dementia Care, or equivalent together with, or willingness to work towards, a Level 3 Certificate in Team Leadership and a proven track record of leading and managing a team in a dementia care setting. You’ll be a positive role model, able to work autonomously and, at times, under pressure, with excellent communication and organisational skills and a natural ability to get along with others. A supportive leader, you’ll motivate your team to deliver the best possible care to our residents at all times.
As a Head of Dementia Care you will work to the Trusts Head of Dementia Care Competency Framework and will receive ongoing professional development and monthly supervision from the Admiral Nurse who will also work alongside you during their regular support visits to the Home.
