Job Description

Cobalt is working with a fast-growing real estate investment and development business with a strong international backing. Since launching its UK arm, the company has established a pipeline of high-quality residential and mixed-use schemes, with projects across London and the South East already underway. With a lean, collaborative team and ambitious growth plans, this is a unique opportunity to join at a pivotal stage in the business. This role will be based out of their Canary Wharf HQ.

The Role

As Head of Construction, you will take ownership of delivering multiple UK residential projects simultaneously, ranging from townhouses and apartment blocks through to complex refurbishments. Acting as the in-house construction lead, you’ll work closely with the design, investment, and operations teams to ensure schemes are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and overseeing day-to-day delivery of multiple construction projects.
  • Leading procurement, negotiating with contractors and suppliers, and overseeing onboarding.
  • Coordinating subcontractors across all trades, from structural works to finishes.
  • Carrying out regular site visits, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations.
  • Reporting progress, risks, and milestones directly to senior management.
  • Acting as the central point of contact for architects, consultants, and wider stakeholders.
Skills Needed
  • A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of UK residential construction, including multi-unit schemes.
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations and contract administration.
  • Hands-on experience managing contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office.
What’s on Offer
  • Base salary of £100,000 – £150,000 depending on experience.
  • Performance-related project bonuses.
  • A collaborative, ambitious team culture with genuine scope for progression.
