Job summary

A leading consulting firm is seeking a Head of Asset Management for an interim 3-month contract in London. You will oversee strategic asset management, maximize asset value, and manage up to 10 staff. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of landlord and tenant law, current MRICS status, and proven experience in asset management. This hybrid role requires 2-3 days on site weekly and offers £600 per day.

Head of Asset Management

£600 per day (Inside IR35)

3 months interim contract

London (Hybrid – 2/3 days on site weekly)

Reporting to the Assistant Director, this is a pivotal role within the Valuation and Strategic Assets team, overseeing processes, policies and systems, and leading on complex landlord and tenant contractual matters. The post-holder must demonstrate extensive expertise in landlord and tenant law and property contracts and must be a chartered surveyor with current MRICS status.

About the Head of Asset Management role

• Maximise the asset's value via letting, disposal or acquisition, creating capital, revenue or social‑value benefits aligned with borough outcomes.
• Oversee asset categorisation within property data systems (core, flex, tail).
• Provide strategic asset management support for key operational properties.
• Manage consultants and oversee feasibility work for a major depot review.
• Management of up to 10 staff, as well as management of external contractors (five frameworks of 20+ contractors).

Your previous experience as Head of Asset Management

• Strong analytical skills and experience using property data to guide decisions.
• Solid understanding of financial modelling and development appraisals.
• Proven experience commissioning and managing consultants.
• Experience working within a Local Authority asset environment.
• Extensive, detailed understanding of the property industry and complex transactional structures, along with the ability to identify and leverage opportunities available to local authorities.
• Current MRICS.
