Qualifications

  • 7+ years PQE in finance leadership.

  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and international accounting standards.
  • Big Four audit background is desirable.

  • Lead timely financial reporting, improve month-end processes.
  • Oversee statutory reporting and audits with compliance.

Job description

Straight-Line Group are currently hiring a Head of Accounting to develop the UK accounting and reporting functions, to be based out of the Marlow office.

This individual must be fluent in both English and Spanish.

This is a high-impact leadership role where you will drive financial control, process improvements, and build strong relationships across the business and with external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead accurate, timely financial reporting—including P&L, balance sheet, cashflow, and CAPEX forecasts—while improving month-end and year-end processes
  • Oversee statutory reporting, manage audits, and ensure full compliance with UK accounting standards
  • Monitor cashflow and working capital, developing tools to track performance and highlight improvement opportunities
  • Champion process automation, strengthen internal controls, and support initiatives such as legal entity simplification and acquisition due diligence
  • Provide strategic leadership to the UK Accounting Team, ensuring alignment with broader group objectives
Person Specification
  • Qualified accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with 7+ years PQE
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish
  • Proven finance leader with experience managing mid-sized teams (12–15+) and driving cultural and process change
  • Strong knowledge of SAP, UK GAAP and international accounting standards
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, process optimisation, and stakeholder management
  • Detail-oriented, hands-on, commercially aware, with strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Big Four audit background (desirable) and a strong control mindset
