Qualifications

The Head Grounds Person is responsible for the meticulous upkeep and presentation of the Hawkhills estate, ensuring all lawns, driveways, flower beds, shrub borders, and hedges are maintained to the highest standard. This role involves overseeing and executing routine and seasonal maintenance, implementing best horticultural practices, and preserving the overall health and aesthetic appeal of the estate’s landscapes. The Supervisor will also manage a team, equipment, monitor plant health, and ensure the grounds remain immaculate year-round.

Main Accountabilities
  • Ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Ensure high-quality work and adherence to Health & Safety.
  • Follow schedules and prioritise tasks to ensure timely completion of garden maintenance activities, including planting, hedging, weeding, pruning and fertilising.
  • Regularly inspect garden areas to assess their condition, identify improvements needed, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensuring all grass areas are mowed regularly and grass is kept to a reasonable length.
  • Strimming back overgrowth around the site.
  • Trimming hedges and bushes, always keeping them tidy and safe, paying attention to nesting seasons and wildlife protection legislation.
  • Gritting pathways and drives in conjunction with the rest of the maintenance team in winter months.
What you’ll need to do the role
