An exciting opportunity has arisen to join South Lanarkshire Council, one of Scotland’s largest and best performing local authorities, leading our well established and successful Asylum and Refugee Service.
View the Refugee Resettlement Advisor job profile. This is a permanent role with 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Salary: £52,992 - £57,885 per year.
Responsibilities
- Manage a wide range of diverse and complex programmes related to refugee resettlement and integration.
- Provide hands-on and strategic/operational leadership of a trauma-informed team.
- Be the first point of contact for guidance and advice internally and across Community Planning Partners.
- Deliver intensive and specialist housing support based on need and adapt to flexible working patterns.
- Support and develop the team, new arrivals and households across South Lanarkshire.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience and knowledge of refugee resettlement and integration programmes; understanding of asylum requirements and No Recourse to Public Funds challenges.
- Relevant qualifications to provide management support or willingness to work towards achieving them within 2 years of taking up the post (the team is registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and Care Inspectorate).
- Must have or be willing to obtain the appropriate registrations and checks (PVG Scheme, if applicable) and be able to discuss gaps in employment with arrangements for a foreign police check where applicable.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a range of stakeholders across organisations.
