Job summary

A leading construction firm in Elgin is looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join its team. You will participate in a 2-year Graduate Programme, gaining hands-on experience in preparing bills of quantities, subcontract agreements, and valuations. The ideal candidate should possess a relevant degree or be graduating in 2025, be motivated, and have excellent communication skills. A competitive salary of £28,000 to £32,000 is offered, alongside comprehensive support for your career progression.

Qualifications

  • Degree-educated or due to graduate in summer 2025 (2:1 desirable) in a relevant subject.
  • Focused and highly motivated with excellent planning and time-management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Subcontract comparison and preparation of subcontract agreements.
  • Attending and contributing to meetings as required.
  • Preparing valuations with Clients and ensuring invoices are issued.

Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 (dependant on Grade achieved and relevant industry experience)

Your new role

About the role:

Our Graduate opportunities could take you to any of our UK sites, where you’ll find out what we do and how we do it, contribute to projects, and grow your knowledge, network and responsibilities. In addition we will support you through your 2‑year Graduate Programme to develop and progress in your chosen career path. As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing bills of quantities and schedules of works for pricing.
  • Preparing and sending out Sub‑contract enquiries.
  • Subcontract comparison and preparation of subcontract agreements.
  • Attending, contributing to, and taking minutes of meetings as required.
  • Preparing valuations with Clients, agreeing amounts for payment and ensuring invoices are prepared and issued.
  • Re‑measuring work using site measurement and measurement from drawings.
  • Re‑measurement of subcontract applications and processing subcontract payments.
  • Informing Sub‑Contractors of contract variations.

What we need from you:

You’ll be degree‑educated or due to graduate in the summer of 2025 (2:1 desirable) in a relevant subject. You should be focused and highly motivated, as well as excellent at planning/prioritising and time‑management. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders, as well as the ability to cope under pressure.
