Job description
GP Training Programme Director – Torbay

Fixed term contract until 31 March 2027. 2 session GP Training Programme Director role to support GP training in Torbay. The role requires working mainly Wednesdays, the scheduled day for Doctors in Training (DiTs) half day release sessions. The Training Programme Director focuses on improving learner supervision, assessment, educational experience and outcomes, and patient safety for GP trainees. The role is continuously evolving, will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi‑professional links.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the provision of the half day release course for GPs in training, including managing available funds and resources.
  • Lead and be responsible for providing education for General Practice trainees in the Torbay GP training programme.
  • Work with GP educational supervisors and local Primary Care Networks to support GP training across the geographical footprint.
  • Support and help educational and clinical supervisors to provide high quality supervision and education for trainees.
  • Deliver and oversee projects and workstreams to support doctors in training and practice based educators, including induction, one‑to‑one support, small group work, developing educational resources, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and acting as an escalation point for both educators and DiTs.
