Our Vacancy

We are seeking a Governance and Compliance Apprentice to join our Governance and Compliance team, where you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality governance services across the Peabody Group. Working under the guidance of experienced team members and reporting to the Senior Governance and Compliance Officer, you'll assist with the smooth running of board and committee activities, maintain statutory records, and contribute to compliance processes.

This role offers structured learning and skill-building as part of a Level 4 Governance Officer apprenticeship, giving you practical experience in governance and compliance while developing essential organisational and communication skills. With mentorship and hands‑on experience, you'll grow your knowledge and explore opportunities for personal and professional development.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Assisting with the organisation of board and committee meetings, including agenda planning and preparing reports.
  • Supporting the production of accurate formal minutes and maintaining governance records.
  • Helping with board and committee member processes such as recruitment, onboarding, and training.
  • Contributing to statutory filings and compliance assessments by gathering and reviewing information.
  • Responding to governance and compliance queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating the sealing and signing of legal agreements and maintaining the Sealing Register.
  • Supporting project work and the development of IT-based governance solutions.
About the Apprenticeship

This is a Level 4 Governance Officer Apprenticeship over 20 months. As part of the programme, you will complete planned training and development activities that are built into your normal working hours. During this time, you will attend workshops, receive one‑to‑one mentoring, and apply your learning to real‑world tasks. Upon completing the apprenticeship, you'll have a final assessment to demonstrate your skills and readiness for a career in data quality.

Funding Eligibility

Requirements to be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over.
  • Not be in full‑time education at the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Not already hold qualifications at the same or a higher level in a similar subject.
  • Have lived in the UK/EEA for at least 3 years prior to the commencement of your apprenticeship.
  • Your residency status must remain valid for the entire duration of the apprenticeship.

  • A commitment to completing the apprenticeship.
  • An organised, and curious approach.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook.
  • A keen interest in continuing a career in Governance.
  • At least two years previous administrative experience.
Additional Requirements
  • Minimum of Level 2 qualifications (5 GCSEs or equivalent).
  • Maths and English GCSE's grade C or above. If you gained your qualifications outside the UK, we'll need an ENIC translation ( www.naric.org.uk ).
