Post details

Fixed‑term, full time (48 hours per week) from 1 August 2026. This post is suitable for a CCT (or equivalent) trainee or post‑CCT surgeon who wishes to gain advanced experience in open and laparoscopic management of abdominal wall hernias.

Candidate requirements
  • Previous training in open and laparoscopic hernia surgery.
  • Support from current trainers confirming suitability for advanced abdominal wall surgery.
Unit’s expertise
  • Open Rives‑Stoppa, open TAR, peritoneal flap, preperitoneal repairs.
  • TEP/ETEP/TAPP for groin, midline, incisional hernias.
  • Pauli repairs for parastomal hernias (in conjunction with the local colorectal and urology teams).
Expected competencies

Confidence in open and laparoscopic complex hernia repairs, including TEP groin hernia repair.
