Job description

An exciting opportunity has opened up here at Deerness Park Medical Group, for a newly qualified (within the last 2 years) General Practitioner to join the team. This position is for 6 sessions per week, working across our two sites in Sunderland. You will be joining a great team led by 4 GP Partners and working alongside 3 salaried GPs. We look after 13500 patients across the city and form part of the East PCN in Sunderland. We are looking for someone passionate about looking after the health and wellbeing of our patients, and someone ready to take on additional responsibility to support the partners here in practice.

Main duties of the job

At Deerness Park Medical Group we pride ourselves on being a modern general practice. We use a clinical triage model for appointments and accessibility. As part of the role you will be expected to work as part of the triage rota, meaning you will make clinical decisions and deem the urgency of appointment requests on that day through our Econsult.

Outside of the triage rota, you will run your own clinics, managing acute, complex and long term health conditions. You will be responsible for ensuring that the patient journey under your care is safe and effective, and one without delay, actioning all administrative work associated with that care including referrals, actioning lab results etc.

In addition during your working week you would be expected to do the the following:-

Act as Supervising GP to support the partners.

Home Visits.

Multidisciplinary meetings.

Care Home ward rounds.

Safeguarding meetings and Clinical Forums.

Supporting medical students.

About us

We have a great team, and great skill mix here at Deerness Park. You would be joining a team of 4 GP Partners, 3 GP's, and 5 Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

Our nursing team consists of a lead nurse, supported by 4 experienced nurses and 5 Healthcare Assistants.

We also have PCN colleagues such as pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, mental heath practitioners and health coaches regularly working in practice.

All supported by a wider administrative team.

At Deerness Park Medical Group, we pride ourselves on creating training and development opportunities for our team, as well as being a training practice for registrars and medical students.

We would provide support to you in the first few years of your career as a GP.

Running clinics includes, but is not limited to:- examining patients to diagnose disease and injuries, ordering various tests to further assess the condition, analyse reports and test results, administer drugs and other applicable treatments, vaccinate patients to immunise them against seasonal viruses and diseases, guide patients on how to maintain their own health and prevent illness.

In addition during your working week you would be expected to do the the following:-

Act as Supervising GP to support the partners.

Home Visits.

Multidisciplinary meetings.

Care Home ward rounds.

Safeguarding meetings and Clinical Forums.

Supporting medical students.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Have Medical Degree
  • Completed vocational training scheme and awarded MRCGP or have equivalent transferable experience and appropriate qualifications to allow practice as a GP.
  • Eligible or enlisted on GP performers list.
  • Must have reached CCT within the last 2 years.
