Salary £50,000 plus £4,800 car allowance

Here at MJ Quinn, we currently have an exciting new opportunity in our Service Delivery team for a General Manager FTTP, covering Scotland/Northeast and Yorkshire. Your working pattern will be Monday to Friday hours between 8.00 – 20.00.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

As MJ Quinn Service delivery, we currently complete around 6,700 copper repair tasks each week, alongside 6,000 copper provision tasks for our client, Openreach. We currently have circa 600 copper engineers, 20 AMs and 4 GMs, and growth will continue into 2025. We cover work for Openreach nationally, across all 5 of Openreach’s RD regions. Our department feeds into the overall service delivery umbrella, alongside our peers in FTTP, with a workforce in excess of 1,500 engineers. We are proud to deliver exceptional quality and service to both our client and customers, whilst ensuring and promoting safe working practices of all our team members.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • To always promote a positive and professional image of the department, by adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Working as part of a team to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.
  • Raising and following up on non-conformance reports, to ensure that any actions identified, pursued, and resolved.
  • Work safely and responsibly within MJ Quinn’s values and operational policies, procedures, and accepted behaviours to avoid harm to yourself, those around you and our neighbours and communities.
  • Any ad-hoc duties as requested by the line manager.
  • To be responsible for the upkeep of all vehicle records in both paper and electronic format.
  • To be responsible for all day-to-day administrative duties within the Fleet department and providing general administrative support to all members of the team.
  • To create an environment with an open communication culture.
  • Set goals for the team whilst providing support to ensure everyone is well equipped.
  • Monitor team performance to ensure team members are on track.
  • Discover training needs and provide coaching.
  • Work closely with the Manager to ensure all operations are running smoothly.
  • Tracks & measures all KPI’s associated with their responsibility and ensures that standards and expectations are managed positively.
  • Managing performance by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress, ensuring feedback and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
  • Encourages others to deliver objectives.

Ensures the team and organisation achievements are recognised, rewarded and acknowledged.

Relationships

To be effective in this role the General Manager, FTTP will need to:

Maintain and build up a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, customers, suppliers, and senior management teams.

  • Lead a team of Area Managers to deliver key KPIs for the client
  • Be able to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team
  • Communicate effectively with all other departments
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ‘safety first’ approach is recognised across areas
  • Review and analyse data including KPIs; support the solution and improvement process
Experience

To be successful in this role the General Manager FTTP will:

  • Experience leading a team at a mid-senior level
  • A demonstrable working knowledge of Openreach’s FTTP Network
  • SMART accreditations pertaining to Openreach’s FTTP Network is desirable
  • Have strong planning, organisation, and monitoring abilities
  • Enjoy a challenge, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Have a high standard of numeracy
  • Be educated to a GCSE level B+ in Mathematics & English (or equivalent)
  • Be computer literate
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Can prioritise work, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage business expectations
  • Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work
  • DBS check to be completed prior to start date
  • Hold a full driving license for a minimum of 12 months with no more than 6 points
  • A legal right to work in the UK
  • Preferable to live in the area and be able to commute to Head Office when needed
