Job description

We are seeking an experienced Defence General Manager to take full accountability for the day‑to‑day management, coordination, and control of all Defence‑related services across the designated contract and associated at Middle Wallop, Stockbridge Hants, SO20 8EG site.

You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality services in line with contractual requirements, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), while also driving growth opportunities and ensuring operational excellence.

What You’ll Do:
  • Overall management of Defence services in line with contract requirements and operational manuals
  • Planning, organising, and managing service delivery across all operational business areas
  • Ensure agreed service standards, SLAs, and KPIs are fully achieved and maintained
  • Contribute to the growth of services while maintaining budgetary control
  • Build and maintain strong client and customer relationships
  • Manage and develop a team of direct reports, including performance management
  • Act as Duty Manager and provide on‑call, weekend, and holiday cover where required
  • Work collaboratively with department managers to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Monitor and maintain Health & Safety and Food Safety standards across all operations
  • Promote employee engagement activities and create a positive working environment
  • Attend meetings, team briefs, and performance reviews as required
  • Support marketing initiatives and promotional activity where relevant
  • Ensure professional standards and care of company equipment at all times
  • Undertake training and continuous professional development
  • Carry out any reasonable duties as directed by management
What You’ll Bring:
Essential
  • Experience in a management role within the soft FM services industry
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Knowledge of HR processes including recruitment, performance management, and disciplinary procedures
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong numerical and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high standards
  • Ability to analyse problems and develop effective solutions
Desirable
  • Experience working in a military environment
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent Health & Safety qualification)
  • Food Safety qualification equivalent to CIEH Level 3
