Job summary

A leading elevator services provider in Dartford is seeking a General Accountant to manage core accounting activities such as ledger management and month-end closing. Title: General Accountant

Location: London

Liftec Express, a leading PE-backed independent provider of elevator and escalator services in the UK, is seeking a skilled and experienced General Accountant.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the General Accountant will support core accounting activities including general ledger management, reconciliations, journal postings, and supporting the month-end close.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
  • Support the monthly and year-end closing process
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of transactions
  • Assist in preparation of management accounts and financial reports
  • Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Reconcile bank accounts and support treasury processes
  • Work closely with the AP/AR teams to ensure accuracy and timely resolution of queries
  • Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required
  • Assist with VAT returns, tax compliance, and other regulatory filings
  • Contribute to the improvement and documentation of accounting processes and controls
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by the Finance Controller
Key Requirements
  • Part-qualified or qualified by experience (AAT / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting.
  • Relevant certification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent is preferred
  • 5+ years of similar experience
  • Experience in a PE-backed, turnaround or carve-out environment is advantageous
  • Previous experience in a service or construction-related business is a plus
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
