Salary ranges from £39,500 to £48,000 depending on experience, with annual pay reviews and a supportive, clinically-led environment.

About the role: play a crucial role in the functional and disability assessments process, serving millions of people in the UK. You will assess cases for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit or a Work Capability Assessment (WCA) as part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS). You will hold consultations and write fair and accurate reports. You will only assess for PIP or for a WCA, not both. We will advise you on the service you will work on and outline expected training during the application process.

You do not need prior experience as a Functional Assessor. We support career changers with our accredited training programme and dedicated support structure.

Responsibilities
  • Hold telephone or video consultations with people applying for PIP or a WCA.
  • Assess a variety of complex conditions and impairments.
  • Write high-quality, fair and accurate assessment reports using a dedicated IT system.
  • Collaborate with your line manager to advance your professional development as a Functional Assessor.
Qualifications and experience
  • Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist or Occupational Therapist.
  • Full registration with one of: Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC).
