Job description

Frontend Developer Next.js & WordPress

£45,000

Birmingham

If you enjoy building slick, modern websites without being chained to legacy codebases or endless ticket queues, keep reading.

We’re working with a small but mighty Birmingham digital agency that consistently punches above its weight. Their sites are sharp, fast, and handcrafted — no page builders, no shortcuts. This is proper development : custom WordPress builds, headless CMS setups, and sleek Next.js front-ends with smart UX baked in.

They’re after a developer who’s confident in both WordPress and Next.js, writes clean code, and doesn’t need a hand-holding project manager breathing down their neck.

What you’ll be doing
  • Building bespoke websites with custom WordPress themes and plugins
  • Shipping polished React / Next.js front-ends for high-traffic sites
  • Collaborating closely with designers and other devs to refine ideas and deliver stunning work
  • Occasionally tinkering with PHP or DNS / config when things go sideways
  • Helping shape their dev process, tools, and workflow — your voice will count
You’ll need to know
  • WordPress (themes, templates, plugins — not just the dashboard)
  • React & Next.js
  • HTML5, SCSS, JavaScript (ES6+), Tailwind (or similar)
  • Gulp / Webpack, Twig, GraphQL
  • Git, and ideally some cPanel or WHM experience
  • A keen eye for accessibility, performance, and SEO
You’ll fit right in if you
  • Have worked in a digital agency or fast-paced studio before
  • Take pride in writing clean, readable code
  • Enjoy collaborating with designers to make mockups pixel-perfect
  • Don’t wait for a 10-page brief before getting started
  • Are happy to speak up, suggest improvements, and experiment with new tools
