A local government authority in Atherstone is seeking a Chief Executive to lead the council through the development of a new local plan. This critical role offers a salary between £52,413 to £54,495 per annum, alongside generous annual leave, a Local Government Pension Scheme, and flexible working options. The ideal candidate will be a qualified planner with leadership experience, dedicated to delivering successful community initiatives. The closing date for applications is January 7th, 2026.

Following the impending retirement of the exiting post holder we have an opportunity for you to make a defining mark in your career and lead the council through a new local plan during 2026 and beyond. We are currently out to consultation on Regulation 18 and aim to have a local plan submitted mid-2026.
The role seeks a qualified planner although the scope of the role is wider. A new local plan is one of the top priorities for the council, so this role is critical to delivering this priority.
You will lead a small, dedicated team supported by additional resource.
