About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Forensic Social Worker to join a dedicated multi-disciplinary team at a low secure unit in Chesterfield. This service supports up to 12 male service users with a range of complex needs including mental health conditions, learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, and other challenging behaviours. Many individuals may be subject to the Mental Health Act or other forensic pathways.

The role focuses on promoting recovery and rehabilitation while managing risk and ensuring that legal, ethical, and social care standards are met.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake comprehensive social work assessments, care planning and safeguarding interventions

  • Act as a key liaison between the unit and external agencies (e.g. MAPPA, probation, local authority, families)

  • Ensure all legal frameworks (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, etc.) are correctly applied



Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England (essential)

  • Experience working in a forensic mental health or secure setting (preferred)

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Care Act, and Mental Capacity Act

  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and complex care needs
