Food Service Assistant - School in North Wembley

Do you want to make a difference in children's daily lives by helping provide nutritious meals in a friendly school environment?

We’re looking for enthusiastic Food Service Assistants to join our school catering team in North Wembley (HA0). This is a part-time, term-time only role, perfect for those balancing work with family or other commitments.

An entry level role for those who may be less familiar with the commercial kitchen environment, but a great opportunity to get started and develop over time. Many FSA’s have progressed their skills and been able to step up and take on more leadership responsibilities (e.g. to Assistant Cook) and we certainly welcome those development opportunities for our team!

Duties
  • Assist with preparing and serving hot and cold meals
  • Set up and clear down the dining area
  • Wash up and maintain kitchen cleanliness
  • Follow food hygiene and allergen safety procedures
  • Support the Cook Supervisor and Assistant Cook
  • Handle food storage and food preparation using commercial kitchen equipment as instructed.
Qualifications, Skills, & Experience

No prior catering experience? No problem! As long as you’re willing to learn, we’ll provide training and support.

  • All food service Assistants will need to understand the principles and procedures around food safety, hygiene, and allergens / dietary requirements. Food Hygiene Level 2 is a requirement but training can be provided.
  • Food industry qualifications and experience would be an advantage.
  • You will have a friendly manner and willingness to learn, work hard and deliver a great service.
  • You will use your initiative to be able to solve routine issues if / when they arise and ensure you always adopt safe working practices. In this role team working and independent working skills are equally important, as is the ability to adopt good working relationships and communicate well with others.
  • A good grasp of the English language is essential as you will be required to understand and follow written instructions.
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
Working Arrangements
  • Part-time, Permanent (10 hours per week) around lunch-time service - Monday to Friday.
  • Location: Designated site in North Wembley.
