Job description

Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment (formerly Hutcheon Mearns) are partnering with a large international energy services business to source a Financial Reporting Lead. This is a key leadership role which will see you being responsible for a professional team of Associates, Accountants and Senior Accountants working together to provide accounting, reporting and legal entity support for finance directors and regional management teams.

The Opportunity
  • Help set the direction and lead the Financial Reporting Team with responsibility for planning, co‑ordinating and managing the team to ensure high quality team deliverables including but not limited to month end and year end reporting, statutory accounts preparation, audit requirements and internal controls reporting
  • Work with regional finance teams looking after accounting and reporting requirements of the legal entities within the Group structure
  • Build up internal relationships with Tax, Legal, Group Reporting and Technical Accounting, as well as external and internal auditors
  • Work closely with the Senior Accountants to prioritise workloads, reviewing the work of the team and ensuring deadlines for deliverables are met - with a focus on quality
  • Play a key role in the development of your team, identifying training requirements and knowledge gaps
  • Provide coaching / mentoring and training as appropriate to ensure the team are constantly learning and developing their technical skills. You will be key in guiding, planning, and facilitating your team members in their development journey
  • Provide feedback in a timely manner and work with other finance functions to plan for rotations and other development activities for the team as well as being responsible for guiding and approving professional accountancy qualification experience sign‑off for our trainees
  • Building and maintaining team relationships with internal clients and to help identify opportunities to increase the scope of the Financial Reporting team to new countries, regions, and tasks
  • Encourage and empower the team to identify and implement process improvements, providing guidance and support, sharing any best practices with other areas of the business
Background and Experience
  • Qualified accountant with significant supervisory experience, looking to lead an ambitious, professional team
  • Extensive experience of IFRS and FRS 101 statutory accounts preparation within a large international organisation and experience as an auditor with a sound understanding of financial risks and controls and the audit process
  • Experience of using SAP or an equivalent ERP system and BFC or a similar consolidation system is desirable
  • The role will require you to be proactive and confident working on your own initiative
  • You must have strong communication skills, a focus on people development and be able to prioritise work effectively
  • It will be exciting, busy, varied and challenging so a ‘hands‑on, sleeves‑up’ approach is a must
