Exclusive Opportunity : Financial Controller | Ashford (Hybrid / Remote) | £70k - £80k DOE

Are you an experienced finance professional looking to take ownership of a complex, multi-entity environment? This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, dynamic group of companies operating across multiple sectors. The business is ambitious, forward-thinking, and committed to excellence in financial management and compliance. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring robust reporting for a diverse portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and deliver accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts for 12 years ahead.
  • Present financial updates to the Board monthly.
  • Oversee and review the work of two junior team members (remote).
  • Manage journal postings, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Reconcile wages to payroll and ensure compliance.
  • Review and submit VAT returns and maintain intercompany reconciliations.
  • Ensure group recharges are invoiced correctly across all entities.
  • Prepare statutory accounts, including one consolidation, and handle corporation tax (CT600) filings.
  • Liaise with HMRC and explore group relief options.
  • Maintain loan accounts, interest postings, and the fixed asset register.
  • Reconcile reports from TaxCalc to Xero and manage bank payments as required.
Profile
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, VAT, and corporation tax.
  • Proven experience in multi‑entity accounting and consolidations.
  • Advanced skills in Xero and familiarity with TaxCalc (advantageous).
  • Excellent communication skills for executive‑level reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and lead a small team remotely.
  • Detail‑oriented with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

  • Hybrid working model with flexibility; mostly remote with an expectation of 3‑4 days on site per month. Although predominantly remote, we do require someone to be based in Kent.
