Overview

Rent Service Officer – Camden. Contract role. £22.58 per hour PAYE or £29.48 per hour limited paid via umbrella company inside IR35.

Responsibilities
  • Maximise rent and arrears collection by effectively managing a designated patch of residential and non-residential accounts, ensuring strict adherence to the pre‑court action protocol at all times.
  • Strive to meet collection targets in a challenging economic, social and political environment, while responding to the needs of vulnerable residents by providing advice and making appropriate referrals to support agencies.
  • Identify and share good practice for arrears recovery that can be implemented within the team.
  • Work within a busy Rent Service Team.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of tenancy management including successions, abandonments and use and occupation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legal aspects of housing management, rent arrears collection methods and Northgate.
  • Ability to deal effectively with difficult customers, both on the phone and face to face, remaining calm and professional at all times.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and key performance indicators for the service.
  • Experience of dealing sensitively and effectively with all sections of the community within a customer‑focused organisation. Experience of managing rent arrears cases.
  • Computer literate and numerically proficient; advanced ability to use Northgate and other office software packages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and willingness and flexibility to work effectively as part of a team and provide cover when required.
  • The successful applicant may currently work in collections, customer services or estate management but must be analytical, highly organised, logical and methodical.
