Overview

Finance Manager – ICFR

Are you an experienced finance professional with a passion for risk management and internal controls? This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the implementation of a high-impact ICFR (UK SOX) framework and help shape the financial governance landscape of a major organisation.

This is an initial 3-month contract role based in London with hybrid working available (3 days per week onsite), the daily rate for the role is up to £450 per day via an Umbrella company.

About the Team

Group Finance Central – Risk and Control partners across the finance function to ensure financial risks are fully understood and effectively mitigated. The team is responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) framework in response to changes in the UK Corporate Governance Code. We play a key role in enabling strategic objectives through performance management, governance, and risk oversight.

Key Responsibilities

As ICFR Manager, you will:

  • Lead the implementation of a robust ICFR framework.
  • Facilitate process workshops to document Financial Statement Line Items (FSLIs), identifying risks and controls.
  • Conduct walkthroughs and control design effectiveness testing, ensuring end-to-end understanding of financial processes.
  • Design and execute operational effectiveness testing aligned with audit principles.
  • Support remediation of control deficiencies and provide SME guidance to control owners.
  • Manage ICFR reporting for senior forums and committees.
  • Raise awareness and deliver training on ICFR requirements and best practices.
  • Lead the annual ICFR attestation/certification process.
  • Provide expert advice on ICFR to finance and operations teams.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of ICFR Assistant Managers.

  • A fully qualified accountant designation (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experienced in ICFR/SOX, audit, or financial control.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and monitor financial controls.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate complex risk concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage senior and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of IT controls (ITGC/ITAC) is highly desirable.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
