Job summary

A leading national charity in the UK is seeking a Finance Assistant to support their Finance Department. The successful applicant will be responsible for daily bank reconciliations, managing the sales ledger, and assisting in credit control. This position comes with a salary up to £27,500 annually, excellent benefits including generous annual leave, and the option for flexible working patterns. Job description

One of the UK's leading national children’s charities are seeking an enthusiastic Finance Assistant to join their dedicated, experienced and growing team of professionals as they embark on a journey of expansion.

About the role

As a Finance Assistant you will work within our client’s established Finance Department, supporting senior management and working closely with colleagues in the Finance Department and wider organisation. The successful applicant will be fully conversant in Bank Reconciliation, Sales Ledger and Credit Control and have a working knowledge of Purchase Ledger. The position will also involve input and reconciliation of income in their CRM system.

  • Daily reconciliation of all Charity bank accounts
  • Sales Ledger - raising of invoices
  • Credit Control and resolving any queries
  • Banking, including cash and cheques
  • Assist in daily reconciliation of on-site PDQ terminals
  • Ensuring income is allocated correctly from external sources
  • Report income to various Charity departments
  • Inputting of family contributions on internal systems
  • Matching income and expenditure to children’s accounts
  • Reconciling donor campaign income
  • Gift Aid
  • Supporting the finance team with any administration tasks that may be required
  • Working knowledge of Purchase Ledger to cover during holidays/sickness
  • Liaising with suppliers
About the rewards

As Finance Assistant you will work 37.5 hours per week, with an informal homeworking option available up to 40% of the week, subject to work and team requirements. The Charity is an Equal Opportunities Employer, and the role offers a host of superb benefits including:

About you

To be successful for the role of Finance Assistant, you will have the following skills and attributes:

Essential Criteria:
  • Good all round accounting knowledge gained either by qualification or experience
  • Highly numerate
  • Good attention to detail
  • Experience of working within a finance department/team
  • A positive can-do attitude
  • Flexible with a willingness to learn other areas of the finance function
  • Team player
  • Excellent IT skills such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Desirable Criteria:
  • Exchequer Accounting Software experience
  • Raiser’s Edge CRM experience
  • Experience of working in the Charity/Third Sector would be advantageous
  • Experience of working in CQC/ISO regulated organisations would also be advantageous
  • Some flexibility to meet the needs of the business may be required
  • A general knowledge of Health & Safety regulations would be advantageous
