Job Summary

Field Service Engineer – responsible for repairing and adjusting wheelchairs, providing on‑call emergency service and supporting clinical & technical teams across South Wales. Two full‑time positions based at ALAS Posture & Mobility Service, Treforest Industrial Estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and adjust wheelchairs, including fitting of components.
  • Conduct home visits across South Wales – full driving licence required, knowledge of lone worker safety.
  • Carry out administrative tasks: loading/unloading equipment, checking equipment prior to fittings, monitoring van stock.
  • Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency repair service.
  • Assess and diagnose faults in posture and mobility equipment and undertake repairs in the community to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Perform basic programming/diagnostics of powered wheelchairs.
  • Demonstrate and adjust wheelchair and accessories with patient, under clinical guidance.
  • Fit special accessories at clinic or patient’s residence within specified range.
  • Maintain flexibility with time management for on‑call out‑of‑hours service.
Qualifications & Experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent technical qualification is essential.
  • Experience working with wheelchairs in a technical capacity is desirable.
