Overview

Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a growing industrial services provider with a commitment to professional development and sustainability, to recruit a Field Service Engineer for its North Yorkshire/Teesside region.

The strategically important Field Service Engineer role comes with a salary of £37,500, pension, discretionary annual bonus, travel expenses, and additional allowances.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned servicing and reactive repairs on specialist mechanical systems installed across sites nationwide.
  • Travel extensively, typically Monday to Friday, with overnight stays near client sites as required.
  • Support additional technical services during quieter periods, such as inspections and assisting with other specialist engineering solutions.
  • Perform equipment installation, removal, and refitting of mechanical components.
  • Follow health & safety standards, working in line with method statements and risk assessments.
  • Complete accurate site documentation and maintain company procedures.
  • Contribute to workshop-based duties when not deployed to client sites.
Professional qualifications
  • Time-served apprenticeship.
  • Formal qualification in mechanical engineering (City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence (ideally clean).
  • Good IT skills, including MS Word and Excel.
Personal skills
  • Methodical in fault finding and able to work well under pressure.
  • Skilled in machinery installation and mechanical component fitting.
  • A self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, with strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and contractors.
  • Safety-conscious with sound knowledge of HSE practices.
  • Flexible to travel extensively and stay away from home during the week.
