Job Description Summary

GE Vernova have an exciting opportunity for Field Service Engineers who have experience working on Naval vessels to work for our Power Conversion and Storage business from our site in Portsmouth. GEs Power Conversion & Storage business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. Job Description

Role Summary: We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer in the Portsmouth area to support the Field Service Teams’ Naval taskings. Working primarily on an array of different classes of Naval vessels mainly in the Portsmouth area with some travel requirements to attend wherever tasked, you will be a key member of the Field Service team and will also be requested to support other non‑Naval tasks covering the Industry, Marine and Offshore sectors.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Comply with both Company and Customer EHS policies and procedures.
  • Engage in a wide range of engineering activities, planning and conducting maintenance, repairs and upgrades onboard when ships are alongside and at sea.
  • Analyse, diagnose and repair system and equipment defects.
  • Manage and plan work packages from concept to completion, involving close liaison with both the customer and GE internal staff.
  • Provide technical support to both the customer and GE internal staff.
  • Develop and engineer Service Solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports and other documentation as necessary.
  • Support other vessels and shore facilities as and when required by the business.
  • Adapt to flexible working patterns in accordance with business needs.
  • Undertake all reasonable duties as requested.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • HNC educated or equivalent in electrical engineering or related clean driving license.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conversant with the use of computers and office suite of software.
  • Customer‑Focused, maintaining a can‑do attitude.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Already possessing or having the ability to obtain MoD Security Clearance.
  • Must attain required medical standard for offshore work.
  • Self‑motivated and dynamic with a focused attitude towards safety.
  • Must attain required medical and personal standards to achieve certification in training courses as deemed appropriate by management.
