Job description
Overview

GBR Recruitment Ltd are working in partnership with a highly respected agricultural machinery business that sells and distributes a range of agricultural machinery, tools, spares and auxiliaries. Our market leading client is seeking an experienced Field Sales Account Manager to develop key areas across the South West of the UK, covering from Bristol, Bath & Somerset, down to North Devon, Mid Devon & East Devon, with a touch into Dorset.

You will be tasked with expanding sales revenue streams (new and current accounts), improving gross margin and increasing market presence across the territory. The South West UK territory already has a strong base of ~600 live clients and ~250 lapsed clients to re-engage, with a handover from the current incumbent who is due to retire in the coming months.

This role involves selling and promoting thousands of agricultural and groundcare products, negotiating directly with independent farmers and farming/agri businesses, as well as groundcare companies. The position offers home-based field work and the responsibility to manage your own sales, business development and account management diary.

If you are a Field Sales professional with experience selling directly into the farming/agricultural and agronomy sectors, this could be the ideal role for you.

The role combines business development and current account management, nurturing existing partnerships and growing sales revenue in both new and existing accounts. Farming experience is advantageous; the client would consider both sales professionals and farm management professionals transitioning into agriculture sales.

Role Objective

The overall aim is to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets, and to develop both current and new business partnerships. The client already has a strong customer base in the territory and aims to grow exposure within these counties and UK-wide. The group serves 10,000+ clients nationally and seeks continued growth in the agricultural, agronomy and groundcare sectors.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • To achieve territory sales targets for Agricultural, Agronomy and Groundcare products within agreed guidelines for costs, revenue, gross profit and product margins.
  • Build long-term business relationships for the brands.
  • Engage with target farming companies, farmers and other organisations, working with individuals at all levels.
  • Own lead generation and conversion, identifying potential new customers and opportunities within the defined territory.
  • Attend industry exhibitions and trade shows representing the company with a professional image.
  • Continuously update knowledge of the company’s product portfolio.
  • Exceed personal sales budgets/targets and other KPIs.
  • Maintain accurate records in the CRM system.
  • Work closely with a designated telesales partner.
  • Participate in and contribute to sales meetings and training days.
Attributes
  • Proven sales and account management experience in a field-based role, ideally in the same industry sector.
  • Experience in Agriculture, Agronomy or Grounds Maintenance sectors; selling to farmers is essential.
  • Willing to cover the whole territory and stay away from home.
  • Well-connected to farmers/agri companies in the South West of the UK is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong negotiation/closing ability.
  • Professional image and high-level personal presentation.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience with CRM systems.
Employee Benefits
  • Fully expensed hybrid company car.
  • Uncapped commission and unlimited earnings.
  • Healthcare scheme.
  • Training plan / L&D support.
  • Remote working from home and in the market.
