Job description

This post is fixed term/secondment for 2 months due to maternity leave until 31st March 2026.

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Facilities Operative(Domestic) to join our team at Hywel Dda Centre in Chepstow.

This is a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

You will be responsible for delivering a range of domestic services in line with national cleaning standards, infection control policies, and health & safety regulations. Your work will help ensure our facilities meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
  • Carry out cleaning duties including mopping, vacuuming, damp dusting, and waste disposal.
  • Clean toilet, kitchen, and office areas, ensuring safe practices at all times.
  • Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, and wet pick-up machines.
  • Maintain security of rooms and storage areas; act as a key holder and secure the building at the end of shifts.
  • Follow COSHH regulations for safe use and storage of cleaning materials.

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of procedures and equipment relevant to post.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations Health & Safety Policies and work procedures.
  • Knowledge of Infection Control Policy, Guidelines and Procedures
  • Knowledge of ISO 9002 regards recording data.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Training.
  • Knowledge and compliance with Mandatory Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers - NHS Circular CEL 23 (2010).
  • Knowledge gained on corporate and local facilities induction and completion of internal training programme over a 12 week period (1 week departmental training with further 2 weeks on the job training).
  • Previous experience in similar role.
