Overview

Facilities Manager - Highways • Part-time | £33,000 per annum (£55,000 FTE) • 21 hours per week across 3 flexible working days • Remote-based with bi-monthly site visits in Essex

The Role

Working closely with the General Manager and service providers, you will ensure maintenance tasks such as pothole repairs, gully cleaning, and general road upkeep are delivered to a high standard. The role includes contractor oversight, reporting, and stakeholder liaison, with two monthly site visits, offering flexibility alongside meaningful project involvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee FM provider performance and ensure contractual compliance
  • Produce reports and present updates at board-level meetings
  • Chair bi-monthly and bi-annual stakeholder reviews
  • Coordinate planned/reactive maintenance work
  • Manage CDM and health & safety compliance
  • Identify improvements and support the delivery of projects
What We're Looking For
  • Facilities Management experience (highways/infrastructure experience ideal)
  • Confident presenting to board directors and senior stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills
  • Ability to assess and manage contractor performance
Desirable
  • Experience working in PFI/DBFO environments
  • Understanding of highways maintenance practices
  • IOSH or SMSTS certification
