Job description

Activate Learning is looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Officer to join our team at Banbury College. This full-time, permanent role ensures the campus remains safe, clean, and secure to support teaching and learning.

The Facilities & Maintenance Officer will carry out a variety of tasks, including unlocking and securing buildings, general maintenance (repairs, painting, decorating), setting up events, moving furniture, and supporting campus activities. You'll also monitor site security, respond to helpdesk requests, maintain external areas, and manage waste and recycling.

Key Facilities & Maintenance Officer responsibilities include:

• Daily maintenance and estates support
• Health & safety and compliance checks
• Grounds upkeep and weather‑related clearing
• On‑call duties every fourth week
• Occasional overtime and weekend work
• Cross‑campus support as needed

This is a varied and hands‑on role ideal for someone proactive and reliable, with a flexible approach to facilities work.

You will be capable of performing routine maintenance, ensuring health and safety compliance, and responding swiftly to on‑site issues. • Practical experience with general maintenance and basic DIY tasks
• Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and relevant legislation (including Safeguarding and the Equality Act 2010)
• Ability to assess and resolve minor issues independently before escalating to contractors
• Competence with basic IT tools and app‑based reporting systems
