The Opportunity
We are looking to expand our EY-Parthenon Strategy team and recruit Engagement Managers who can build on their experience in strategy, transactions and commercial analysis, and work on a number of diverse and demanding projects for blue‑chip corporate and entrepreneurial clients as well as private equity. Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) is a large and rapidly growing sector at EY, and we are building on our past success to become the leading TMT strategy practice.
The role centres on corporate and business‑unit strategy, go‑to‑market models and commercial operating‑model optimisation for telecom and technology corporates, while also supporting private equity clients with commercial due diligence and value creation across the wider TMT space. You will also play a key role in devising AI strategies for corporates, utilising AI technologies to drive transformation and enhance operational efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
As an Engagement Manager you will typically be responsible for:
- Leading and managing project teams of between 4 and 10 consultants
- Creating an inclusive culture throughout the team and within engagements
- Building the business by engaging in client pursuits, developing proposals and strengthening EY‑Parthenon’s profile in the telecom and technology strategy market by identifying opportunities within existing clients and driving sales activity
- Working closely with wider EY teams – across Business Consulting, Tax, Strategy & Transactions and Assurance – to bring the best of the firm to our clients
- Developing a community within the team – owning or developing an offer, or other internal practice build initiatives such as Training, Professional Development, Innovation, Recruitment etc.
- Counselling consultants to provide career direction and advice
- Developing your own skills and experience and having fun with the team
Successful candidates are intellectually curious, passionate about solving complex problems, hardworking, approachable, and entrepreneurial. They are excellent communicators who collaborate well with people and teams and have a real desire to both learn and coach others.
Qualifications
- Minimum of seven years of working experience
- Prior experience in strategy consulting, preferably with corporates in the telecom or technology industry, and/or relevant transaction experience
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Corporate and/or business‑unit strategy development
- Go‑to‑market strategy design for traditional, digital and hybrid models
- Market evaluation and competitive analysis in telecom/TMT
- Exposure to private equity commercial due diligence (buy‑side and/or sell‑side)
- Experience leading in complex business environments and working with senior stakeholders
- Excellent influencing, presentation and communication skills
- Proven ability (or interest) to devise and implement AI strategies that enhance corporate transformation and drive competitive advantage
- Credible project‑management experience and ability to plan, deliver, structure, write and present work against tight deadlines
- Analytical work experience
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel
- Willingness to share technical and other knowledge with the team
- Passion for TMT topics, relevant work experience within TMT and an interest to focus on subsectors within TMT as your career develops
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant corporate telecom and technology focus
- Familiarity with AI‑enabled tools for strategy and commercial analysis
- Excellent communicator, both oral and written
- Business development experience
- Drive to solve complex problems with senior stakeholders
- Effective time manager, able to keep calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
- Coach to junior team members helping them with on‑the‑job training, informal discussions and formal EY‑Parthenon training modules
- Team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels in EY and with clients, both in the UK and internationally
