Job description

Job Title: Extrusion Setter - Brief for Candidate Outreach (Hoddesdon)

Company: Electrical & data cable manufacturer (deep-sea / hazardous-area products)

Location: Hoddesdon (EN11)

Shifts: Day & Night positions available

Day shift hours: 07:00-17:30 (Mon-Fri)

Night shift: Available, details TBC

Contract: Permanent

Pay Bands:

• Unexperienced / Junior Setter: £28,000-£35,000 – For candidates from factory/heavy machinery backgrounds who can be trained on cable extrusion.
• Experienced Setter: £36,000-£45,000 – Proven experience setting and running extrusion lines.

Role Snapshot: Set up/change over extrusion lines (tips/dies, temperature zones, line speed, haul-off), monitor OD/concentricity and insulation/sheath quality, respond to gauges/spark testers, complete safety checks and records.

Ideal backgrounds (transferable):

• Wire & cable extrusion, medical/small-bore tubing, hose/profile extrusion
• Familiarity with pay-off/take-up, preheaters, cooling troughs, capstans, and inline QA (e.g., Sikora/Zumbach)
