Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter / Night Shift

A great opportunity for an experienced extrusion professional to support machine set‑up, production changes and quality monitoring within a busy PVC extrusion environment.

Salary: £35,500 - £36,500 (depending on experience) + Benefits (see below).

Location: Hyde, Tameside, Greater Manchester, North West England.

Job type: Full‑Time, Permanent.

Working hours: 36 Hours per Week – Night Shift 21:00 to 06:00, Monday to Thursday.

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter, supporting extrusion line set‑up, tooling changes and high‑quality PVC production.

As an Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter you will monitor performance, adjust parameters and complete dimensional checks.

As an Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter you will work closely with production, quality and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues, maintain machinery and record production data in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Duties

Your duties as the Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter include:

  • Machine Set‑Up: Set up and operate extrusion machinery to meet production specifications.
  • Tooling Changes: Install, align and adjust extrusion dies, screws and tooling, including occasional die cleaning.
  • Process Control: Monitor machine performance and adjust parameters to maintain quality and tolerances.
  • Quality Inspection: Complete dimensional checks, visual inspections and record production data including material usage and settings.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve material or mechanical issues to minimise downtime.
  • Maintenance: Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication and machine care tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with supervisors, maintenance teams and quality control to meet production targets.
  • Training Support: Assist in training new machine operators as required.
Candidate Requirements

ESSENTIAL:

  • Previous experience in extrusion or a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of extrusion processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and production specifications.
  • Experience using callipers, micrometres and other measuring tools.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically able to complete manual tasks and stand for long periods.
  • Willingness to work night shifts and overtime where required.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience of PVC extrusion processing and fault rectification.
  • A background in plastic profile, sheet or tubing extrusion.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S workplace practices.
