Job description

Title : Experienced Mechanical Engineer - Composites Specialist


Salary range : £45,000 to £65,000 per annum depending on experience


Location : Leatherhead or Bristol


Working Pattern : We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer‑Nash, with time split between the office and working from home.

We're expanding to support many exciting new opportunities across industries like maritime, defence, renewables, and space. We're looking for a composite specialist with experience in leading structural analysis projects.


As part of our Asset Integrity Group, you'll work at the forefront of engineering innovation, tackling projects which may involve:



  • Detailed finite element analysis of composite structures under extreme loads

  • Developing strategies and standards for life extension

  • Assessing structures against impact loads

  • Creating design guidance for the analysis of components

  • Providing analysis to support the design of new products

  • Optimising future designs


As well as developing and applying your technical expertise to solve challenging problems, you will get the opportunity to :

  • Experienced in the design, manufacturing or analysis of composite structures

  • Experienced in performing structural analysis on composites and / or metallic structures

  • A degree or PhD in a STEM (Science, technology, engineering or mathematics) subject

  • Experience with codes and standards


The following requirements would be beneficial but not essential :



  • Experience with at least one of the major finite element analysis software packages

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or Matlab


Due to the nature of the work that Frazer‑Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre‑employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
