Overview

Exceptional role for an EU/Competition and Trade lawyer to join an award-winning team at a leading international law firm, based in their offices in Edinburgh.

Role Profile

The EU/ Competition and Trade team consists of over 20 competition lawyers and is part of a wider international Competition Group consisting of more than 180 competition lawyers across the globe.

The team advises on a broad range of matters that include:

  • Competition enforcement issues;
  • Merger control;
  • Public procurement;
  • State Aid;
  • Regulatory matters.

The team is looking to expand its offering in Edinburgh, with a particular focus on public procurement and State Aid work. The team works with clients across a range of sectors, including the public sector and utilities, construction and infastructure, lifesciences, technology and media and financial services with clients being based in Scotland, the rest of the UK and internationally. The role is varied and will also involve advising on:

  • Public procurement (both contentious and non-contentious);
  • State Aid;
  • Competition compliance;
  • Regulatory investigations;
  • Merger control.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Lawyer inScotland and/or England & Wales;
  • Ideally circa 3+ PQE;
  • In addition to competition experience, the successful candidate should have a strong interest in public procurement work, ideally with an EU law and/or public sector background;
  • Experience in public procurement;
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills;
  • Strong commercial acumen and business development skills.
