Overview

Our client, who has been an established contractor for 15 years, delivers refurbishment, fit-out and new-build schemes across London and the Home Counties, with projects in the leisure, education, retail, healthcare and housing sectors. Due to a pipeline of work in 2026, they are recruiting for an Assistant Estimator or Estimator to join the team. Experience in refurbishment or new build sectors, ideally with a main contractor background, is preferred; candidates from a sub-contractor background who are willing to learn will be considered.

Salary: £45k - £70k per annum + package

Location: Hertfordshire / North London

Position: Full-time

Responsibilities / Requirements

• Must have experience working as an assistant estimator or estimator.
• Must have experience on new build and refurbishment projects in residential and commercial sectors.
• Must have experience working for a Main Contractor.
• Must be able to estimate from first principles along with using our supply chain.
• Must have a relevant estimating degree or similar training and/or experience.
• Must be able to manage multiple tenders at one time.
• Must be a good communicator and have experience dealing with clients and subcontractors.
• Must have good IT skills and be able to use Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must have a flexible, can-do attitude and want to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to work independently and take on responsibility for the tender submission to meet deadlines.
• Must have experience with working with JCT forms of contract.
